Edna Christine Holt, age 77, of Mount Olive, formerly of Keyesport passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. Edna was born in Fornfelt, Missouri on August 26, 1938, the daughter of Albert and Laura (Williams) Coomer. She married Robert Holt in September 1976 in Belleville, he preceded her in death in 2000.
Along with her parents and husband, Edna was preceded in death a step-son: Bobby Holt; her brothers: Bob Coomer, Bill Coomer, and Joe Coomer; her sisters: Ada Mae Croy, Marjorie Strange, and Berdean Coomer, her sister-in-law Joyce Coomer; and a brother-in-law Don Strange.
She is survived her daughter Laura Kay Crader of Vandalia, and step-daughter Pamela Holt of Granite City; her step-son Tony Holt of Granite City; her brother Jack Coomer of Whitewater, MO; three grandchildren Billy Bennett Jr., James Bennett, and Becky Bennett, six step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren Joshua and Elizabeth Bennett and three step-great grandchildren.
Edna moved from Granite City to Keyesport where she lived for 33 years. She was a member of the Columbus Baptist Church in Keyesport. She enjoyed bingo and dancing. Edna had a talent in poetry and was very good at writing her own poems.
Visitation will be held at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle on Saturday, December 26, 2015 from 8 until 9:30 AM.
Funeral Services will begin at 9:30 AM on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle with Pastor Bruce Sasse officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Memorials in honor of Edna are suggested to the American Cancer Society and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL.
