Eileen M. Detmer, age 83, of Aviston, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Legacy Place in Breese. She was born August 18, 1932 in Breese, the daughter of Henry and Theresia (Koerkenmeier) Jansen. She married Ludwig G. “Louie” Detmer on October 18, 1950 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese and he preceded her in death on June 12, 2001.
She is survived by her children, Dennis (Dorothy) Detmer of Breese, Mark “Tank” (Jenny) Detmer of Albers, Kevin (special friend, Eric Taylor) Detmer of Fitchburg, MA, Dale (Geri) Detmer of Breese, Randy (Dianna) Detmer of Belleville, Julie Tebbe of Aviston, Jane (Don) Eilers of Highland, Joyce (Carl) Gilomen of Trenton, and Kathleen (Al) Feldmann of Breese; two daughters-in-law, Darlene Detmer of Effingham and Rose Detmer of Germantown; 24 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ralph (Dolores) Jansen and Robert (Theresa) Jansen both of Breese, Victor (Ruth) Jansen of Carlyle, and James (Emma) Jansen of Breese; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marilyn Jansen of Germantown, Susan Jansen of Maryland Heights, MO, Amelia “Millie” Tebbe of St. Rose, Marie Detmer of St. Rose.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Detmer; her step-mother, Catherine (Connelly) Jansen; three brothers, David Jansen and Donald Jansen, Francis & Gloria Jansen; three sisters, Henrietta Jansen, Delores Ripperda, and Alice Kohrs; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alphonse Jansen, Norbert Ripperda, Ralph Kohrs, Regina & Leo Tebbe, Al & Loretta Haselhorst, Ferd Tebbe, Joe Detmer, Albin & Rose Detmer, Eugene & Mary Detmer, Elmer & Lorraine Detmer, and Ludwina & Jim Hall.
Mrs. Detmer was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Francis Parish and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1239 in Aviston.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Church in Aviston.
Memorials in honor of Eileen may be made to the Heartland Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home in Aviston.
