Elizabeth Olive Jeffries, age 83, of New Baden died on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Barnes Medical Center in St. Louis. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 29, 1940, the daughter of Harry and Olive Schmidt.
She is survived by her son, Donald Sullivan of New Baden; stepson, Lowell “Junie” Jeffries of Bartelso; grandchildren: Aaron Sullivan of Mascoutah, Stephanie Sullivan of Ft. Drum, New York; great grandchildren: Bonnie Elizabeth and Scarlet Rose; and her brother Dale Schmidt and wife Maryann of Missouri; her former husband, Lowell Jeffries; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and two brothers: Gene Schmidt and Frankie Schmidt.
Elizabeth was a member of Zion UCC in New Baden and a member of the New Baden American Legion Auxiliary. She was a dedicated volunteer at church, often helping serve meals during the summer and decorating for all the holidays. She worked as a supervisor in a civil service computer facility at Scott Air Force Base and after retiring from that position she enjoyed working at New Baden Elementary and St. George Middle School as a cook. Mrs. Jeffries loved taking bus trips and traveling and cherished time with her grandkids, great grandkids and family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Zion UCC in New Baden. Interment will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of services on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Zion UCC in New Baden. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden.
