Emily E, Turner of Carlyle died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Carlyle Healthcare Center at the age of 96 years. Emily was born in Hoyleton, Illinois on February 20, 1915, the daughter of Henry and Emily (Hohman) Meyer. She married Virgil "Midge" Turner on January 29, 1931 in Carlyle and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2000.
Mrs. Turner is survived by her son: Dean Turner and wife Florence of Maryville, Illinois; six grandchildren: Rob Stanfa and wife Kathy of Puryear, Tennessee, Perry Stanfa and wife Nancy of Carlyle, Shawn Stanfa and wife Susan of Shattuc, Tina Stanfa formerly of Carlyle, Russ Turner and wife Pearl of Deerfield, Florida, and Terri Cook and husband John of Maryville, Illinois; a sister: Selma King of Carlyle; a brother: Raymond Meyer of Aztec, New Mexico; and five great grandchildren.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter: Jacqueline "Jackie" Stanfa; and sibling: Paul Meyer, Willard "Butch" Meyer, Carl Meyer, Glenna Tielman, Rose Meier and Dan Meyer.
Emily enjoyed sewing and quilting and going to auctions, but her true passion was being with her family.
Funeral services will be at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Chuck Tuttle officiating. The interment will follow at the Posey Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9 to 11:00 A.M.
The family suggests that memorials in Emily’s honor be made to the Posey Cemetery Association and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
