Antoinette A. "Toni" Engelmann, 81, of Albers, died Friday, March 23, 2012 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. She was born June 12, 1930 in Mascoutah, daughter of Herman, Jr. and Rose (Richter) Heimann. She married Virgil John Engelmann on June 6, 1950 in Albers and he preceded her in death on December 2, 1981. She is survived by her children, Dennis (Brenda) Engelmann of Albers, Daniel (Barb) Engelmann of St. Jacob, Collette (Robert) Kehrer of New Memphis, Richard (Kathy) Engelmann of Albers, Debra (Kevin) Wellen of Trenton, Mark (Cheryl) Engelmann of Albers, Gary Engelmann of Kent, WA, Allen (Dana) Engelmann of St. Genevieve, MO, Bill (special friend, Sandy Hediger) Engelmann of Albers, Dale (special friend, Chrissy Miller) Engelmann of St. Jacob, and Cindi (Brian) Setzer of Petersburg, IL; 28 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sister Marcianna of Herrin; a brother, Arnie (Mary) Heimann of Germantown; a step-brother, Elmer (Jane) Netemeyer of Aviston, a step-sister, Alice Zurliene of Fairfield; and two step-sisters-in-law, Vera Netemeyer of Aviston and Dolores Netemeyer of Albers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Frank Netemeyer; two sons, James Engelmann and Robert Engelmann; a grandson, Kyle Von Bokel; a brother, Herbie Heimann; step-sisters and step-brothers, Bernette (Vincent) Dulle, Sister Jule Netemeyer, ASC, Paul Netemeyer, Henry "Hank" (Edna) Netemeyer, Martha (Edwin) Horstmann, Marcella (Anthony "Tony") Dulle, and Ralph Netemeyer; a step-brother-in-law, Tom Zurliene; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, August and Emma (Voss) Engelmann. Mrs. Engelmann was a Licensed Practical Nurse at Breese Nursing Home and Aviston Countryside Manor. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Altar Sodality and was a Eucharistic minister, sacristan, and was very involved in church activities. She was a member of American Legion Post 1026 Auxiliary, the Daughters of Isabella Circle 718 and the ASC Association – Province of Ruma, IL. She was a St. Joseph Hospital volunteer and also volunteered for many community activities including meals on wheels and serving at the annual Bishop’s Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She enjoyed quilting and watching her children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s football games. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2012 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Rev. Lou Koehr and Deacon Glenn Netemeyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2012 and from 7:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2012 at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mater Dei High School or St. Bernard Parish and will be received at the funeral home.
