Ernest "Ernie" R. Sousa Jr.

Ernest R. Sousa, Jr. was born on August 23, 1972 in Providence, Rhode Island the son of Pamela (Mollet) and Ernest Sousa, Sr. Ernest died Friday, August 21, 2015 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Peters, Missouri at the age of 42 years.

Ernie is survived by his children: Sophia and Samuel “Bam Bam” Sousa; his mother and step-father: Pamela and Ronald Finn of Highland, his fiancée: Wendy and her children Katelynn and Kira of Hecker; a sister: GloryAnn Ridall and husband Don of Carlyle; his grandmother Gloria Mollet of Carlyle; nieces and nephews: Deven, Morgan, and Hayley of Carlyle; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and co-workers.

Mr. Sousa was preceded in death by his father: Ernest R. Sousa, Sr. and his grandparents: Mary Veronica and Rudolph Ernest Sousa.

Ernie was a veteran of the United States Air force. He loved golfing and riding his Harley. Ernie was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and New England Patriots Football fan. He played on the Carlyle High School State Championship Football team. He was a caring person in his everyday life and in his career at CenterPointe Hospital in St. Charles, where he was a registered nurse. Ernie passed on his caring ways through his organ and tissue donation. Above all, Ernie was a proud and loving father to his son and daughter.

Friends may visit with Ernie’s family on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.

Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle with Rev. Jason McIntosh officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be left to his son, Samuel Sousa, for his college fund and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231
