Eugene W. Wehmeyer

Eugene W. Wehmeyer, 80, of Okawville, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Shiloh, IL. Born on April 7, 1943, the son of Raymond and Florence, nee Steinkamp, Wehmeyer and they preceded him in death.

Beyond his professional life as a chemical applicator for Terayne, Eugene found solace and contentment in various hobbies. Woodworking allowed him to showcase his creativity and craftsmanship, while gardening provided him with a peaceful retreat to nurture and grow beautiful plants. Fishing was another passion that allowed Eugene to connect with nature and find moments of tranquility amidst the busyness of life. Additionally, working on Cub Cadet Lawnmowers and cars gave him a sense of fulfillment as he tinkered and perfected machinery with precision

Eugene valued his family deeply, cherishing the memories created with his loved ones. He leaves behind his beloved daughter and son-in-law, Shannon (Matt) Powers of Venedy. 

As we fondly remember Eugene W. Wehmeyer, let us celebrate the life he lived - full of dedication, passion, and love for both his work and family. He will be dearly missed but always remembered for the impact he had on those around him. Memorials made in memory of Eugene may be made to the Washington County Animal Control and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover St., New Baden, IL 62265 who is serving the family.
