Lorraine A. Foppe, 92, of Breese, died Monday, June 25, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. She was born April 6, 1920 in Belleville, daughter of Frank and Dorothy (Loepker) Merscher. She married Elmer H. Foppe on January 10, 1942 in St. Louis, MO and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1992. She is survived by her five sons, Don (Susie) Foppe, Roger (Margaret) Foppe, Bob Foppe, Mike (Carol) Foppe all of Breese and Terry (Gerry) Foppe of Westminster, CO; 20 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose (Roy) Pulver of Beckemeyer; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward “Flip” and Joan Foppe of Breese. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jim Foppe; a grandson, Bradley Foppe; three sisters, Marcella Hodapp, Dorothy Micheel, and Barb Kohrmann; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marcus Hodapp, Tom Micheel, Father Cyril Foppe, OMI, Leona and Ben Lampe, Clementine and Wendell Imming, Irene and Ed Von Hatten, Dorothy and Fred Thole, and Ferd and Irene Foppe. Mrs. Foppe formerly worked for the Trim Foot Shoe Co. in Carlyle. She was a member of St. Dominic Parish and a member and past president of St. Monica’s Ladies Sodality. She was also a member and past president of the Breese American Legion Post 252 Auxiliary. Lorraine loved her family and her flowers. span Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Father Chuck Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. The American Legion Auxiliary will hold services at 7p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Dominic Parish or All Saints Academy and will be received at the funeral home.
