Frances “Franny” Koehler, age 87 of Carlyle, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Carlyle Healthcare Center. Franny was born in Breese, IL on Sept. 1, 1933 the daughter of Anton and Eugenia (Beckmann) Kohrs. She married Richard “Dick” Koehler in Breese, IL on Oct. 10, 1951, and he preceded her in death on February 7, 2021.
She is survived by her children: Debbie Boehne and husband Marvin of rural Centralia and Craig Koehler and wife Amy of Breese; her grandchildren: Klete Boehne and wife Angie, Andrew Koehler and wife Ellie, Ashley Ehlers and Bryan, Greg Taplin and Mariela; great grandchildren: Alex and Claire Boehne, Emma Venne, Hattie Ehlers, Riley, Winston, and Leona Koehler; her sister-in-law, Etta Mae Lien, and husband Hilmer of Breese.
In addition to her husband Richard, she was preceded in death by her mother, father, and twin sister, Mary Lawler and husband Charles and sister Viola Kennett and husband Daniel.
Franny was a member of the First Methodist Church in Carlyle. She worked at the Altadonna IGA in Carlyle for many years and was also a baker at County Seat Deli and Delights. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, traveling and word search puzzles. She was an avid Carlyle sports fan and volunteered her baking skills for the Masonic Lodge and church events. She loved baking and cooking, her Texas sheet cake was locally world famous.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021 at the Carlyle Township Cemetery. All attendees are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
Memorials made in memory of Franny are suggested to the CHS Booster Club or Christmas in Carlyle and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
