Francis M. “Frank” Potthast, 52, of Aviston, died Monday, December 26, 2016 at his home. He was born June 15, 1964 in Highland and raised on the family farm north of Aviston, the son of Ernest H. and Ruth L., nee Thole, Potthast.
Frank is survived by his mother, Ruth L. Potthast of Carlyle; his siblings, Marjorie Imming of Trenton, Joan (Joseph) Timmermann of Carlyle, Thomas
Potthast of Aviston, Michael (Linda) Potthast of New Douglas, Gerald Potthast of
Aviston, Eugene (Harriet) Potthast of Highland, Rita (Larry) Kabat of Woodlawn,
Theresia (Robert) Prout of Chillicothe, Patricia (Dave) Fuhler of Trenton, Ernest
(Jean) Potthast of Alhambra, Steven Potthast and David Potthast both of
Aviston, and Kevin (Beth) Potthast of Highland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Ernest H. Potthast, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Agnes Harper, and his brother-in-law, Harry Imming.
Mr. Potthast worked at Broadway Battery and Tire in Highland as a mechanic for many years, and was previously employed at Grandview Farm. Frank always enjoyed working on the family dairy farm, planting a large garden, fishing, hunting, playing and watching sports, especially the St. Louis Blues and NASCAR, and collecting baseball cards.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Sarcoma Foundation or St. Francis Parish and will be received at the church or Nordike Funeral Home, 301 S. Clinton, Aviston, IL 62216 who is serving the family.
