Michelle A. "Shelly" Frerking, 44, of New Baden, IL died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born April 5, 1967 in Mt. Carmel, IL, daughter of Tom and Elizabeth "Liz" (Kieffer) Hoffman. She married Kevin Frerking on June 3, 1989 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel, IL and he survives in New Baden, IL. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her parents, Tom and Liz Hoffman of Mt. Carmel, IL; two children, Megan Frerking and Dylan Frerking of New Baden, IL; a brother, Mike (fiancé, Babette) Hoffman of Allendale, IL; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dennis and Evelyn Frerking of New Baden, IL; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Susan and David Press of Belleville, IL; grandparents, Joe and Jane Hoffman of Mt. Carmel, IL and Dorothy Schubert of Bridge City, TX; nieces and nephews Austin, Draden and Faith Hoffman, Nicole (Craig) Dierking, Elizabeth (special friend, Charles Ellett) Press, and Rikki, Rilee, and Kaelyn Slayton. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Norman and Ali Kieffer, Robert and Helen Schubert, and George and Alice Frerking. Mrs. Frerking was an administrative assistant for Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. in Mascoutah, IL. She was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden, IL and the Gold Wing Touring Assoc., Mascoutah Chapter. She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School, class of 1986 and graduated from Wabash Valley Jr. College in 1988. Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2011 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden, IL with Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden, IL. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or her children’s education fund or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
