Frey, Bernadette

Bernadette C. Frey, 81, of Aviston, died Friday, February 2, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. She was born June 11, 1925 in Aviston, daughter of Anton and Rosa (Zurliene) Strieker. She married Peter Paul Frey on August 28, 1956 in Aviston and he preceded her in death on September 26, 1991. She is survived by two sons, Karl Frey of St. Rose, Glen Frey of Aviston; two daughters, Mary Rehkemper and husband Tim of St. Rose, Joyce Kampwerth and husband Mark of Carlyle; eight grandchildren, Keil Frey, Kourtney Frey, Kolten Frey, Krystal Frey, Kane Frey, Emily Rehkemper, Lydia Rehkemper, and Kenyon Kampwerth; one sister, Lucille Mersinger of Troy; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Strieker and Alvina Strieker, both of Aviston. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony "Bud" Strieker, Ferdinand "Ferd" Strieker, and Alphonse Strieker; two sisters, Christine Strieker, in infancy, and Dorothy Holtkamp; two brothers-in-law, Joe Mersinger and Robert Holtkamp and a sister-in-law, Martha Strieker. Mrs. Frey was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Francis Parish and Ladies Sodality. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2007 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Pat Peter officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2007 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2007 at Hempen Funeral Home in Aviston. There will be a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be received at the funeral home.
