Bertha E. Fuhler, 85, of St. Rose, died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. She was born September 5, 1925 in St. Rose, daughter of August and Rose (Thole) Vonder Haar. She married John Fuhler on October 1, 1947 in St. Rose and he preceded her in death on May 27, 1971. She is survived by her children, Marilou (Howard) Rakers of Breese, Phyllis Koopmann of Breese, James (Rita) Fuhler of St. Rose, John (Netsy) Fuhler of Breese, Donald Fuhler of St. Rose, Geralyn (Tony) Hempen of Highland, Steven (Jackie) Fuhler of St. Rose and Lisa (Roger) Young of Pocahontas; twenty-three grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Veronica Beckmann of St. Rose, Leona Maue of St. Louis, MO, Al (Patricia) Vonder Haar of Greenville, Edward (Joanie) Vonder Haar of St. Rose, Charles (Lorraine) Vonder Haar of Carlyle, August (Patricia) Vonder Haar of St. Rose; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clara Rakers, Agnes & Wilbert Huelsmann, and Helen & Stanley Timmermann all of Breese, Victor & Sally Fuhler of Trenton and Mary Jane Fuhler of St. Rose. In addition to her husband and her parents she was preceded in death by three sons, Robert Fuhler, Francis Fuhler, and infant, Joseph Fuhler; two grandchildren, Rachel Fuhler and Mary Fuhler; a great-grandson, Jake Koopmann; son-in-law, Bernie Koopmann; three brothers, Vincent Vonder Haar, Bernard Vonder Haar, and Francis Vonder Haar; two sisters, Mary Lou Vonder Haar and Jeannie Meyer; brothers-in-law, Al Maue, Gene Beckmann, Larry Meyer, John Rakers and Bernard Fuhler. Mrs. Fuhler was a homemaker and also worked in housekeeping at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. She was a member of St. Rose Parish and Ladies Sodality and a former member of the Daughters of Isabella. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Ed Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery in St. Rose. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2011 and from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. Memorials may be made to the St. Rose Building Fund or to Mater Dei High School and will be received at the funeral home.
