Gabler, Luella

Luella Gabler, 79, of New Baden, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden. She was born February 10, 1930 in New Baden, daughter of Philip and Minnie (Kauling) Santel. She married David W. Gabler on June 28, 1949 at St. George Church in New Baden and he preceded her in death on February 1, 2008. She is survived by a son, Scott Gabler of New Baden; a sister-in-law, Florence Santel of New Baden and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Delmond Santel, James Santel and Leroy Santel; sisters-in-law, Virginia Santel and Rosemary C. Santel. Before her retirement Mrs. Gabler was a teller at the First County Bank of New Baden. She was a member of St. George Parish and Altar Sodality in New Baden. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 2009 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Msgr. James Blazine officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2009 and from 8 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
