Gail L. Gross

Gail L. Gross, age 84, of Beckemeyer, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 26, 1936 in Breese, IL the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Griesbaum) Southers. She married Leonard Gross and they later divorced.

Gail is survived by her children: Pam Haar, Michael Gross, Barbie Gross, Melinda Knapp and husband Brian, Jeff Gross and wife Lisa; her grandchildren: Joshua Haar and wife Katrina, Jeremy Haar and wife Gina, Keila Verbeck and wife Abbi, Kara Verbeck and fiancé Chase, Kyra Sandvick and fiancé Chris, Joseph Knapp and special friend Jamie, and Abby Gross; great grandchildren: Conlan, Braelyn, Ella, Abree, Kendra, Kaylee, Korbin, Kloee, Zoee, Riley and Violet; great-great-grandchildren: Tristin and Kinley; her brother, Robert L. Southers; her sister, Kay Smith; nieces and nephews: Kent Southers, Julie Reed, Ben Smith, and Brittany Southers.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her grandson, Justin Haar; her brother, James Southers; and her sister in infancy, Dorothea Southers.

Gail loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids and attending their sporting events. She enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, trivia games, and watching the game show network on television, and she loved a good cheeseburger!

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle. Interment will follow at Beckemeyer Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, from 9:00 AM until the time of services at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.

Memorials made in memory of Gail are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Shriners International and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
