Gerald "Jerry" Hopper

Gerald “Jerry” Hopper of Keyesport, Illinois died at his home on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the age of 75 years. Jerry was born in Altamont, Illinois on December 12, 1938 the son of Cleo and Geraldine (Riley) Hopper. He married Ruth Ann Lowe in Pinckneyville, Illinois on February 23, 1957, and she survives in Keyesport.
Jerry is survived by his wife: Ruth Ann; grandchildren: Lauren Stengel and husband Robert, Taylor Hopper and Jadyn Hopper; great grandchildren: Annabelle and Lucas Stengel; and a sister: Judy Hempen and husband Joe of Breese, Illinois.
Jerry was preceded in by his parents; and children: Darla Hopper, Toby Hopper, and J.D. Hopper.
Jerry was a retired member of the Operating Engineers Local 520 of Granite City. He was an avid fan of country western music, especially Hank Williams. Spending time with his family was his favorite enjoyment.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle with Rev. Mark Goldman officiating. The interment will follow at McKendree Chapel Cemetery near Keysport.
Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 8:00 PM or on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the time of services.
