Gerald “Jerry” Schulte, 61, of New Baden, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 at his home. He was born January 20, 1956 in Belleville, the son of Hugo and Arlene (Billhartz) Schulte. He married Sharon Lodes September 27, 1980 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden and she survives in New Baden.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his three children, Crystal (Corey) Winkeler of Highland, Matthew (Jenny) Schulte of New Baden, and Dana Schulte of New Baden; four grandchildren: Camille and Ben Winkeler, and Madisyn and Austin Schulte; his mother, Arlene Schulte of Mascoutah; siblings: Mike (Linda) Schulte of Belleville, Rich (Rena) Schulte of New Baden, Stan (D’Lisa) Schulte of New Memphis, and twin sister, Geralyn (Merle) Borrenpohl of Venedy; his in-laws: Steve (Barb) Lodes of Trenton, Sandy (Jim) Wagoner of Trenton, and Shelia (Jeff) Becherer of Osage Beach, MO; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Hugo Schulte, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hon and Gert Lodes.
Mr. Schulte worked as an operating engineer at Fabick Caterpillar in Fenton, MO, and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 513. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing bingo. Jerry was known to be a collector of unique treasures. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was well-known for always having a good time and making everyone laugh.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2018 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden.
Friends may call Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and again on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at
Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Southern Illinois, St. George Catholic Church or to the charity of donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
