Gladys A. Wessel

Gladys A. Wessel of rural Carlyle died Monday, November 10, 2014 at her home at the age of 89 years. Gladys was born in Clement Township/Clinton County, Illinois on August 15, 1925 the daughter of Herman and Amelia (Heidsik) Goesling. Gladys married Melvin Wessel on November 17, 1945 in Centralia and he passed away on August 9, 1958. On November 7, 1959 in Centralia, Gladys married Leroy Wessel and he survives.
Gladys is also survived by three sons: Lowell Wessel and wife Judy of Carlyle, Terry Wessel and wife Rolynda of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Kevin Wessel and wife Sherry of Carlyle; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.
Gladys was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman. She enjoyed being a homemaker, quilting, canning, and gardening. She especially enjoyed being with her family .
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman with Pastor Stephen Krenz officiating. The interment will follow in Carlyle Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the Wessel family at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
