Dolores "Dee" Goldsmith, 85, of New Baden, died Monday, March 28, 2011 at her home. She was born October 26, 1925 in Germantown, daughter of Henry Pollmann, Sr. and Ann Marie (Thein) Pollmann. She married Wilson J. Goldsmith on January 7, 1948 at St. George Church in New Baden and he preceded her in death on August 12, 1985. She is survived by a daughter, Diana Lynn (Dennis) Comer of Edwardsburg, MI; two granddaughters, Lynn (Todd) Blyly and Lisa (Shane) Strong; five great-grandchildren, Morgan and Nathan Blyly and Steven, Travis and Evan Strong; one brother, Henry Pollmann, Jr. of Mascoutah; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Betty Goldsmith of St. Louis, Ralph and Marlene Goldsmith of New Baden and Lillian Reinhardt of New Baden. In addition to her husband and her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elvira Goldsmith, Marcella "Sally" Rieken; a brother, LaVerne "Slim" Pollmann; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edward Goldsmith, Eileen Pollmann, Marian "Ducky" Pollmann, Franklin Goldsmith and Ray Reinhardt. Mrs. Goldsmith was retired from the Wesclin School District. She was a member of St. George Parish and Altar Sodality in New Baden Trenton VFW Post 7983 Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 321 Auxiliary. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Gene Neff officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. The Trenton VFW Auxiliary will visit the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. followed by the New Baden American Legion Auxiliary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Clinton Manor Activity Fund and will be received at the funeral home.
