Gregory R. Roach, 69, of Kirkwood, Missouri passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Delmar Gardens of Meramec Valley. He was born in Santiago, Chile on July 20, 1948, the son of Robert C. and Monica (Liston) Roach.
Mr. Roach is survived by a son, Jason Roach of Pleasant Valley, Missouri; two daughters: Lauren Hobart and husband Scott of Ballwin, Missouri, and Kimberly Holtgrave and husband Andrew of Beckemeyer; six grandchildren: Christa Roach, Abigail Roach, Jack Hobart, Kaitlyn Hobart, Melanie Holtgrave and Drew Holtgrave; a brother, Dennis Roach and wife Carolyn of Fairhope, Alabama; and a sister, Andrea Dempsey of Carlyle.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as his brother-in-law, Samuel Dempsey.
Gregory retired from the St. Louis County Department of Corrections, where he worked as an intake officer for many years. He had many hobbies some of which included hunting, fishing, and coin collecting. He was a recreational pilot and enjoyed flying. He was also a published poet. Above all he loved spending time with his family and being involved with his grandchildren’s activities.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Carlyle, Illinois.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 until 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle, Illinois.
