Glenda Pauline Gunn, 69, of New Baden, died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Lebanon Care Center in Lebanon. She was born April 27, 1941 in Green Castle, MO, daughter of Orval and Irma (Slater) Wyant. She married Kenneth L. Gunn on May 14, 1960 in Gilman City, MO and he survives in New Baden. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Susan (Steve) Thurnau of St. Jacob, Jonathan (Lisa) Gunn, Christopher Gunn, and Matthew (Lynn) Gunn all of New Baden; five grandchildren, Stefan (Lyndsie) Thurnau, Stacey Thurnau, Shari Thurnau, Joshua Gunn and Evan Gunn; a sister, Judith Ross of Mascoutah; brothers-in-law, J.C. Gunn, Lee Gunn, Walter (Ruby) Gunn, and Paul Gunn. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and was anticipating the birth of her first great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, James Ross. Mrs. Gunn was a homemaker and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Baden. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and playing bingo. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden with Pastor Dave Manley officiating. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2011 and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday, March 21, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or to Clinton Manor Activity Fund and will be received at the funeral home.
