Michael E. Haar, 54, of Maryville, Ill., formerly of Albers, Ill., died Monday, May 21, 2005, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born on February 28, 1951, in Belleville, Ill. son of William H. “Bill”, Sr. and Johanna (Thien) Haar. He is survived by his mother, Johanna Haar of Breese; two sons, Nathan Haar and wife Meesha of Hogansville, GA and Tim Haar of Maryville; four grandchildren, Haden, Tyson, Andru and Alexander; three brothers, William A. “Bill” Haar, Jr. of Centralia, Ill., Stephen Haar and wife Cheryl of Aviston, Ill., and Richard Haar and wife Diana of Belleville, Ill.; one sister, Madonna Wulf of Breese; and his life partner Cheryl Helfrich of Maryville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Jerome Haar. Mr. Haar was a steelworker at Granite City Steel and was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Local 67 in Granite City. He enjoyed spending time on the Mississippi River. Friends and Family will gather at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers for funeral procession to St. Bernard Cemetery, Albers for graveside services with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Friends may call on Monday, May 23, 2005 from 4 until 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8 until 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
