Wilbert F. Haar, 79, of Breese, IL died Saturday, September 17, 2005 at his home. He was born on May 17, 1926 in Breese, IL, son of Fred and Wilhelmina (Grawe) Haar. He married Geraldine "Gerri" Aarns at St. Anthony’s Church in Beckemeyer, IL on October 16, 1951 and she survives. In addition to his wife, he his survived by one son, Dan Haar and wife Cathy of Villa Park, IL; seven daughters, Terri Willi of O’Fallon, IL, Denise Bierman and special friend, Dale Buscher of Aviston, IL, Connie Ryan and husband John of Charleston, West Virginia, Lisa Eversgerd and husband Burt of Germantown, IL, Sherri Peters and husband Dale of Breese, IL, Mary Scheibal and husband Paul of Glen Carbon, IL, and Vicki Holtmann and husband Kirk of Carlyle, IL; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Andy Haar and wife Janet of Mount Laurel, New Jersey; one sister Helen Rule of Carlyle, IL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donna Aarns of Bourbonaise, IL, Betty Liening of Carlyle, IL, Judy Heimann and husband Bob of Albers, IL, Margie Gooden and husband Scott of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Carl Aarns and wife Jackie of Beckemeyer, IL, and Lorraine Aarns of Highland, IL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Haar, two sisters, Catherine Haar & Marie Schulte; brothers-in-law, Otto Schulte, Leonard Rule, Andy Aarns & Bob Aarns; sister-in-law, Millie Haar, and a son-in-law, Alvin Willi. Mr. Haar was a retired dockhand for TMX Freight Lines in St. Louis, MO and also worked for Rakers Electric in Aviston, IL. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII and earned the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Battle Star and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Battle Star. He was a member of St. Augustine Church and Holy Name Society, the St. Augustine Men’s Choir, Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869 and American Legion Post 252 in Breese. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at St. Augustine Church in Breese, IL with Rev. George Mauck officiating. Interment will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese, IL. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese, IL. The Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clinton County Relay for Life and will be received at the funeral home.
