Harpstrite, J. "Bud"

Arthur J. “Bud” Harpstrite, 81, of New Baden, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. He was born January 13, 1931 in New Baden, son of Arthur and Clara (Schlich) Harpstrite. He is survived by a brother, Robert Harpstrite; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia and John Friess of Chester; nieces and nephews, Brian (Sandi) Harpstrite of New Baden, Diane Harpstrite of St. Louis, MO, Tom (Renee) Harpstrite of Trenton, Janice Harpstrite of New Baden, Teresa (Mike) Wernsman of New Baden, Kevin Harpstrite of Belleville, and Elizabeth (special friend, Jon Huegen) Harpstrite of Damiansville; also survived by 10 great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Harpstrite was a farmer. He was a veteran of the United States Marines and a member of St. George Parish in New Baden and the Clinton County Farm Bureau. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Gene Neff officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, memorials may be made to St. George Parish Building Fund in New Baden and will be received at the funeral home.
