Mary R. "Sally" Haselhorst, 79, of Breese, formerly of Belleville, died Thursday, March 30, 2006 at her home. She was born March 8, 1927 in Aviston, Ill. daughter of Ben H. & Gertrude (Hellmann) Rakers. She married Robert J. Haselhorst in Aviston on April 14, 1948 and he survives in Breese. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Norma Barthelme of Breese, Gary Haselhorst and wife Peggy of O’Fallon, Robert C. Haselhorst and wife Michele of New Baden, Julie Ott and husband Robert of Freeburg, Karen Ott and fiancé Bill Gass of Belleville, Ray Haselhorst and wife Shelly of Belleville, and Jolene Boswell and husband Scott of Louisville, KY; 20 grandchildren, Ryan Wright & Melanie Wright, Christin Neubauer and husband Dan, Brett Lehnertz and husband Scott, Sara Barthelme and fiancé Ivan Hovden & Jon Barthelme, Jason Haselhorst and wife Tammie, Jennifer Haselhorst and fiancé Micah Derickson & Jonathon Haselhorst, Amanda Haselhorst, Kyle Haselhorst, Nathan Haselhorst, Erika Haselhorst, Rachel Haselhorst, Stephen Ott and wife Phoebe, Stephanie Ott and fiancé Scott Pensoneau, Christina Ott, David Ott, Julia Boswell & Liam Boswell; six great-grandchildren, Derek, Cade, & Kennedy Neubauer, Zachary Lehnertz, Hunter Loyett, and Dominic Dolce; two brothers James Rakers and wife Marilyn of Aviston and Charles Rakers of Aviston; five sisters, Anne Kalmer of Trenton, Rita Kalmer and husband Victor of Damiansville, Delores Langenhorst of Beaver Prairie, Johanna Heimann of Fairview Heights, and Julie Toennies and husband Walter of New Baden; and one sister-in-law, Leona Rakers of Aviston. She was also survived by many nephews, nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Ann Wright, her parents, three brothers, Tony Rakers, Aloyisius Rakers and Bernard Rakers; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anton & Elizabeth Haselhorst; four brothers-in-law, Ray Haselhorst, Vince Kalmer, Vince Langenhorst and David Heimann; and four sisters-in-law, Dolores Rakers, Rita Rakers, Clara Rakers and Rita Haselhorst. Mrs. Haselhorst was a retired credit manager from Small’s Men’s Store in Belleville, Ill. She was a member of St. Augustine Parish and the church choir in Breese, St. Monica Altar Sodality, the Mixed Nuts Club, the Clinton County Home Extension, and she was a volunteer for the Pro Life Organization. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2006 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Rev. Vincent Haselhorst & Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2006 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2006 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or St. Augustine Church and will be received at the funeral home.
