Helen Hempen

Helen Hempen, 87, of Carlyle passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017, at the Carlyle Healthcare Center. Helen was born in Posey, Illinois on June 26, 1929, the daughter of Henry and Bessie (Penter) Hempen.

She is survived by her brother, Carl (Frances) Hempen of Salem; her very special friends, Troy (Jamie) Spaur of Carlyle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ms. Hempen was a long time member of the Carlyle Christian Church, where she served as the financial secretary of many years. She was a veteran of the United States Army, and later retired from the Unites States Postal Service. She loved her four legged friends and was a very outgoing and energetic women.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Carlyle Christian Church with Rev. Josh Wolford officiating. Interment will follow in the Carlyle Township Cemetery.

Friends and relatives may call from 8 a.m. until 10:0.0 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Carlyle Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to the Carlyle Christian Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at church or Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle, whom is serving the Hempen family.
