Helen B. Hollenkamp, 95, of Carlyle passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Carlyle Healthcare Center. She was born on January 6, 1923 in Carlyle, the daughter of Herman and Margaret (Lake) Luebbers. She married Ralph Hollenkamp on September 9, 1941 and he preceded her in death on September 27, 2010.
Helen is survived by her children: Ray (Denise) Hollenkamp of Huntington Beach, California, David (Pam) Hollenkamp of South Shore, Kentucky, Deborah Sanderson of Desoto, Missouri, and Paula (Tony) Vallera of Mustang, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Mary (Larry) Howell; her siblings, Bob (Myrna) Luebbers, Matt (Cindy) Luebbers, Sister Patricia Luebbers, Marcella Dimock Betty McClintick, and Marion Luebbers; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Mary Karen Hollenkamp, two sons: Jim Hollenkamp and Bill Hollenkamp; four brothers: Joe Luebbers, Jack Luebbers, Danny Luebbers, and Ray Luebbers.
Helen worked in housekeeping at the Carlyle Healthcare Center most of her life. She enjoyed playing cards and scrabble, as well as crossword puzzles and jig saw puzzles. Her other hobbies included, reading books, quilting, and baking.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 22, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Carlyle.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle and on Monday from 9:00 until 9:30 AM at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.
Memorials made in Helen’s memory are suggested to the charity of donor’s choice and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
