Helena W. Crisostomo, nee Westermann, age 81, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, formerly of Carlyle, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Clear Creek Nursing Home in Mint Hill, NC. She was born on December 12, 1936 in Breese, IL, the daughter of Anthony and Ruth (Stalker) Westermann. She married Desiderio L. “Chris” Crisostomo in Carlyle and he preceded her in death on February 22, 1997.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother and father.
Helena is survived by her two daughters: Susan Foster and husband Luke of Vienna, Virginia, and Lisa Revilla of Charlotte, North Carolina; four grandchildren: Sarah Foster, Rachel Streletsky and husband Tony, Andrew Revilla, and Anna Revilla; step-granddaughter, Anna Ingram; one great granddaughter, Emma; two sisters: Cynthia O’Neill and husband Terry of Carlyle, and Susan Hollenkamp and husband Dennis of Carlyle; and one brother, Anthony Westermann Jr. and wife Anna Guatemala.
Mrs. Crisostomo loved music, she played and a concert pianist level and enjoyed listening to the St. Louis Symphony. Her hobbies included walking, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She never met a child or dog that she didn’t love.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at St. Mary Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating. Burial will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle and again on Saturday from 9:00 until 9:45 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Carlyle.
Memorials made in Helena’s memory are suggested to the St. Louis Symphony or the National Parkinson Foundation and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
