Hemann, Berdelle

Berdelle M. "Birdie" Hemann, 84, of New Baden, died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Clinton Manor in New Baden. She was born November 13, 1923 in New Baden, daughter of Henry and Barbara (Lehr) Mank. She married Robert J. "Bob" Hemann October 31, 1944 in New Baden and he preceded her in death July 17, 2003. She is survived by a sister, Alberta Kramper of Danville and a brother Harold (Arleen) Mank of Lebanon; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rose & Frank Bux and Helen Hemann all of New Baden and nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Virgil Kramper, Orville J. Hemann, Adeline & Eugene Willmann, Robert & Virginia Kiefer and a nephew, Craig Kiefer. Before her retirement Mrs. Hemann was a procurement specialist at Scott Air Force Base and with her husband, formerly owned and operated Hemann Chevrolet in New Baden. She was a member of St. George Parish and Altar Sodality and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 321 Auxiliary. She enjoyed square dancing with her husband. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2008 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. The American Legion Auxiliary will visit at 7 p. m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. George Parish or Mater Dei High School or to Heartland Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
