Herman E. Devine

Herman E. Devine, 87, of New Baden, died Saturday, June 23, 2018 at his home. He was born November 10, 1930 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Clarence and Ella, nee Matherly, Devine. He married Thelma Rose Meddows and she preceded him in death on December 13, 1997.

Herman is survived by his seven children, Michael (Carol) Devine, Linda Devine, Rose Anderson, Andrew (Jacquita) Devine, Martin (Susan) Devine, Richard (Stephanie) Devine, and Donald Devine; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Devine; a son-in-law, Roy Anderson; a sister, Isabelle Ealey; and three brothers, Leo, Bill, and Bud Devine.

Mr. Devine worked for the Labor Local 670 in O’Fallon for over 50 years and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Post 321 in New Baden and the VFW Post 3523 in Carlyle.

Graveside Services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at College Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden. The American Legion will have a walk-thru at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
