Hertenstein, Vivian

Vivian G. Hertenstein, 99, of New Baden, died Friday, June 1, 2007 at Caring First Nursing Home in Breese. She was born April 6, 1908 in Trenton, daughter of George and Lillian (Kirby) Wehrman. She married George Joseph Hertenstein April 10, 1928 in East St. Louis and he preceded her in death January 17, 1974. She is survived by a nephew, George Eaton and wife Betty of Breese; a brother, Glenn Hertenstein and wife Dorothy of O’Fallon, MO; and nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew, Francis "Fronk" Eaton and two brothers, George Wehrman and Roy Wehrman. Mrs. Hertenstein was a homemaker. She and her husband, George, raised her nephews, George Eaton and Fronk Eaton, and after the death of his mother they also raised her brother, Glenn Hertenstein. She was a member of the New Baden United Methodist Church, and former church organist, vocalist, treasurer and Sunday school teacher. She was a charter member of the New Baden Women’s Club and the Belleville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2007 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden with Pastor Steven Friese officiating. Burial will be private. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2007 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Baden United Methodist Church and will be received at the funeral home.
