Kenny "Syl" Hilmes, 49, of Beaver Prairie, died Sunday, March 25, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. He was born November 14, 1957 in Breese, son of Sylvester and Juliana (Usselmann) Hilmes. He married Sandy Litteken on March 4, 1978 in Trenton and she survives in Beaver Prairie. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hilmes is survived by his parents, Sylvester and Juliana Hilmes of Breese; his children, Corey and Tina Hilmes of Breese, Kyle Hilmes and special friend, Kara Von Bokel, Chelsie Hilmes and special friend Wade Hopkins and Kelly Hilmes and special friend Corey Meyer all of Beaver Prairie; his first grandson is expected in May; a brother and five sisters, Trisha Kohrman and husband Jim of Okawville, Sharon Fullerton and husband Morris of Walnut Hill, Rita Fuhler and husband Jim of St. Rose, Donna Beckmann and husband Ralph of Carlyle, Alan Hilmes and wife Jackie of Breese and Sandy Jansen and husband Joe of Bartelso; mother-in-law, Viola "Olie" Litteken of Trenton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pam Hilmes of Breese, Gary and Mary Litteken, Dale and Ellen Litteken, Charles and Tina Litteken, Scott and Michelle Litteken, Kurt and Tina Litteken, Donna and Raymond Moore, Brenda and Gene Wobbe, Laurie Litteken all of Trenton; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Matt A. Hilmes, his grandparents, Ferd and Dolores Hilmes and William and Wilhelmina Usselmann, his father-in-law, Dave Litteken, and a brother-in-law, Terry Litteken. Mr. Hilmes was a dairy farmer and was retired from Ken Hilmes Construction. He was a graduate of Mater Dei High School, class of 1975. He was a member of St. Felicitas Parish in Beaver Prairie, the Aviston Gun Club and Clinton County Farm Bureau. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Beckemeyer with Rev. Dan Friedman and Deacon Charles Litteken officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Beckemeyer. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2007 and from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. Memorials may be made to St. Felicitas Church or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
