Hodel, Margaret

Margaret "Peggy" Hodel, 60, of New Baden, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Specialized Living Center in Swansea. She was born September 11, 1951 in Breese, daughter of Edward W. and Rita Ann (Maguire) Hodel. She is survived by her sisters, Sister Mary Hodel SSND, Deborah Hodel and Pamela Hodel; aunt, Dorothy Hodel; uncle and Godfather, Charles F. Maguire and wife Jean; nieces and nephews, Sasha, Eric and wife Jennifer, Abram and wife Melanie, Nicole and husband Nathan; and great nieces and great nephews, Amelia, Caitlin, Madeline, Dylan, Cameron, Shelby and Allison. Peggy also has many friends and cousins across the country. Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Rita Ann Hodel on October 19, 1972, her father, Edward Hodel on October 28, 2006, her step mother, Loretta A. Hodel on February 10, 1999 and a sister, Patricia Hodel on April 25, 2000. She was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden and the American Legion Post 321 Auxiliary in New Baden. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January16, 2012 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Gene Neff officiating. Burial will follow at Green Mount Cemetery in Belleville. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. Memorials may be made to School Sisters of Notre Dame and will be received at the funeral home.
