Mary Hofstetter-Schubert, 80, of New Baden, died Monday, April 12, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. She was born June 7, 1929 near Malden, MO, daughter of George and Allie (Hammond) Bohannon. She married Walter Hofstetter and he preceded her in death on December 9, 1985. She married Eugene Schubert on September 29, 1990 in New Baden. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Eugene Schubert of New Baden; her children, Janice (Duane) Coker of Belleville, Linda (fiancé, Jesse Robinson) Binns of St. Louis, MO; a son-in-law, Donald M. Biesemeyer of Troy; step-children, Loretta Edmundson and Cindy (fiancé, Rick Porter) Schubert all of Centralia, Robert (Tina) Schubert of Florida Keys, FL, and Mike (Kimberly) Schubert of Shiloh; grandchildren, Brandon Varner, Reid and Evan Binns, Nathan Biesemeyer, and Kelsey L. Hirth; great-granddaughter, Alyssa Varner; step-grandchildren, Arial Edmundson, Christopher and Brittany Schubert, Hannah Porter, Cody, Dylan, Zachary and Josie Schubert; three sisters, Clarice Rife of Mocksville, NC, Wanda (Ernest) Parker of Freeburg, and Jeanie Keith of Indianapolis, IN; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George Delashmit of Bourbon, MO, Nedra Bohannon of Lake Charles, LA, Gary Schubert, Harold & Margarite Schubert, Bonnie and Clarence “Doc” Brunette, and Donald & Jo Schubert all of Carlyle. In addition to her first husband and her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Kay Biesemeyer; a grandson, Brian Varner and five brothers and two sisters. Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Baden and was a former Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 16, 2010 at First Baptist Church of New Baden with Rev. Dave Manley officiating. There will be a lunch at the church immediately after the service and burial will follow at Valhalla Cemetery in Belleville at 1 p.m. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden and from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Friday, April 16 at the First Baptist Church of New Baden. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund and will be received at the funeral home and the church.
