Helen Holmes, 94, of New Baden, IL died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Countryside Manor in Aviston, IL. She was born December 13, 1915 in Kansas City, KS, daughter of Michael and Dora (Staresina) Kolich. She married John Holmes on March 4, 1935 in Liberty, MO and he preceded her in death on December 12, 1979. She is survived by her children, Helen Marie Holmes of Shawnee, KS, Donna (Karrel) Spicer of New Baden, IL, John (Pat) Holmes of Glendale, AZ, and Judy (John) McKearney of Tucson, AZ; a brother, Frank (Mildred) Colich of Shawnee, KS; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, John Kolich, George Kolich, and Joe Kolich; five sisters, Anne Monach, Marie Andrews, Rose Blessington, Kate Bond, and Barbara Johnson; and one grandchild. Mrs. Holmes was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden. She was a homemaker. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Kansas City, KS. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, KS. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the church.
