Charles A. “Charlie” Hubert, 90, of New Baden, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. He was born June 29, 1919 in Breese son of James and Mabel (Bass) Hubert. He married Loretta Mae Schuler on February 1, 1947 in St. Louis, MO and she survives in Trenton. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Charles T. “Chuck” (Cindy) Hubert of Albers; one daughter, Peggie (“Chuck”) Morris of New Baden; five grandchildren, Brian (Tricia) Hubert, Michael Hubert, & Justin (special friend, Ashley) Hubert and Nathan Morris & Jessica Morris; two step grandchildren, J. D. (Jen) Morris and Kristin Morris; one great-grandchild, Kellan Hubert; and six step great-grandchildren, Joey Morris, Harley Morris, & Madison Morris and Tyler Morris, Teagan Morris, & Cameron Morris; he is also survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Barney Hubert and two sisters in infancy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ella Hubert, Marge & Fritz Gleba, “Ricki” & Al Molitor, Ginny & Ray Reckamp, and Rose & Ervin Heidbrink. Mr. Hubert was a farmer and a crain operator for Combustion Engineering in St. Louis, MO. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII and a member of American Legion Post 252 in Breese. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2010 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden with Rev. Gretchen Sterrett officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Clinton County Honor Guard will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2010 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. The American Legion will visit the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
