Arnold F. Huegen, 91, of Albers, died Monday, August 18, 2008 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. He was born October 19, 1916 in Albers, son of Otto and Helen (Santel) Huegen. He married Bernadine Meier on September 28, 1938 in Albers and she preceded him in death on September 5, 1998. He is survived by his children, Leroy O. (Janet) Huegen of North Port, FL, Stanley F. Huegen of Albers and Sandra (Robert) Schulte of Albers; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Eleanor Huegen of Albers; he is also survived by nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Francie Huegen; brothers and sisters, Edward Huegen, Harry Huegen, Ray Huegen, Wilbert Huegen, Delmond Huegen, Lewis W. "Lukes" Huegen, Frieda Stockmann, and Otilia Schulte; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Agnes Huegen, Irene Huegen, Margaret Huegen, Alvina Huegen, Edward Stockmann, William Schulte, Adelpha & Edward Speiser, Lee Dora & L.A. Taylor and Nora Meier; and a half sister-in-law Mary Catherine Berger and her husband Robert. Mr. Huegen worked at Imbs Mill in Belleville and Modern Foundry in Mascoutah. He was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Men’s Club and served one term as President of the Men’s Club; a member of Catholic Fraternal Life, formerly known as C. K. & L. of I.; a charter and life member of the Albers Fire Department from 1954 to the present, currently as an honorary member; a Democratic Precinct Committeeman for four years; a lifetime member of the Albers Jaycees, the National Trappers Assoc. and member of the Illinois Trappers Assoc. He served two terms on the Albers Town Board and was a member of the Albers Commercial Club since he was 18 years of age and served two four year terms as president. He also served on the Albers Sanitary District since it was established in 1954. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2008 and from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers. Memorials may be made to St. Bernard Parish Memorial Fund or to the Albers Fire Department and will be received at the funeral home.
