Irene C. Strieker, 84, of Albers, died Thursday, August 11, 2016 at her home. She was born December 5, 1931 in Germantown, the daughter of Louis & Mary (Robben) Schoendienst. She married Robert Strieker January 19, 1952 in Germantown and he survives in Albers.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her 14 children, Ron (Toni) Strieker, Diane (Jim) Hummert, Gary Strieker, Curt (Marla) Strieker, Jake (Cleo) Strieker, Tom (Lisa) Strieker, Don Strieker, Mike (Jane) Strieker, Bob (Joyce) Strieker, Dave (Mona) Strieker, Glenn (Ildiko) Strieker, Jeff (Alicia) Strieker, Bryan Strieker, and Lynn (Kevin) Winkeler; grandchildren, Matt, Stefan, Ryan, Amanda, Jason, Courtney, Sage, Michael, Chase, Shanna, Patrick, Megan, Grant, Gavin, Grace, Indigo, Zsolt, Alexis, Jack, Seth, Trey, and Brie; great-grandchildren, Dee Dee, Emmett, Charlie, Leni, Tucker, and Tinley; a sister, Ruth Gramann; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Schuchman and Evelyn Strieker; and she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Strieker, a sister, Marie Crane; two brothers, Paul and Louis “Bud” Schoendienst; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry & Elizabeth Strieker; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lawrence & Catherine Strieker, Eugene “Gene” Strieker, Lorene & Sylvester “Bud” Fauke, Robert Schuchman, Elmer Strieker, Linda & John Rudolph, Vincent Strieker, Helen Schoendienst, Loretta Schoendienst, and Earl Crane.
Mrs. Strieker was a homemaker; a member of St. Bernard Parish and Ladies Sodality, and a member and past president of the Albers American Legion Post 1026 Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, baking, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities; and spending time with her family.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Rev. Anthony Onyango & Deacon Glenn Netemeyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers.
Friends may call Monday, August 15, 2016 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers. The American Legion Auxiliary will visit at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. Bernard Parish or the Parkinson Research Foundation and will be received at the church or Nordike Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover, New Baden, IL 62265 who is serving the family.
