James Edward Beckemeyer, age 54, of Carlyle passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Breese Nursing Home. He was born in Breese on August 30, 1964, the son of Larry and Mary (Beckemeyer) Vance.
He is survived by his mother Mary Vance of Beckemeyer and his brother David Wilkerson of Louisville, Kentucky.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his grandparents Harold and Mildred Beckemeyer.
Mr. Beckemeyer worked as the plant manager for Oxford Clothing Company in Georgia and was responsible for organizing and starting the factory when it was moved to Mexico where he continued to work for many years. Jim was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. In his free time he liked reading fantasy books and listening to southern rock music. Other hobbies included cooking and playing poker. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle with Rev. Jason McIntosh officiating. Interment will follow at Beckemeyer Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 until the time of services on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.
In lieu of flowers and other gifts the family has suggested memorials be made in memory Jim to Hospice of Southern Illinois and those will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, Illinois.
