James E. Timmermann

April 29, 1935 — June 24, 2020

James Edwin Timmermann, age 85, of Frogtown passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 24, 2020. He was born in Breese, Illinois on April 29, 1935 the son of Edwin and Alvina (Kohlbrecher) Timmermann. He married his wife of 65 years, Ruth Wade at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie Du Rocher, IL on January 15, 1955, and she survives in Frogtown.

In addition to his wife he is survived by six children: Yvonne Cobourn and husband Greg of O’Fallon, MO, Fay Timmermann of Breese, Marsha Mocaby of Waterloo, Wade Timmermann and wife June of Little Rock, AR, Neal Timmermann and wife Maggie of Beaver Prairie, and Scott Timmermann and wife Angie of Highland; sixteen grandchildren: Michelle Baurley and husband Nathan, Bryan Cobourn and wife Tara, Alan Cobourn and wife Sara, Katie Merlock, Cassie Kreke and husband Matt, Alex Mocaby, Hanna Mocaby, Cody Timmermann, Jesse Timmermann, Jacob Timmermann, Reed Timmermann, Dalton Timmermann, Jessica Stratmann and husband Andrew, Danielle Timmermann, Thomas Timmermann, and Erin Timmermann; ten great grandchildren: Evan Baurley, Caleb Baurley, Harrison Baurley, Ivy Cobourn, Violet Cobourn, Penelope Atwood, Lucy Cobourn, Lucas Stratmann and Mason Stratmann.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his daughter, Elizabeth Merlock and husband John; as well as two brothers: Paul Timmermann and wife Veronica and Robert Timmermann.

Jim was a member of St. Dominic’s Parish in Breese. Jim was a farmer and loved to work, he worked until age 73. He was the owner / operator of Jim Timmermann Excavating as well as an operator for Local 520. Some of his hobbies included fishing and hunting, especially deer hunting from unique deer blinds. He enjoyed listening to St. Louis Cardinals baseball games. Jim never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved spending time with his family.

One of Jim’s favorite quotes was: “I’m the luckiest guy in the world. I have a great family, a beautiful farm, my porch and a great life.”

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter presiding.

Interment will follow in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese.

Memorials made in memory of Jim are suggested to St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery or St. Dominic Church and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 150 North Clinton Street, Breese, IL 62230.
