Janet E. Dorries

Janet Eileen Dorries, age 78, of Carlyle passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Creve Coeur, Illinois on October 2, 1942, the daughter of Walter and Mabel (Swofford) Herrin. She married her husband of 57 years, Clyde Dorries on March 24, 1963 in Creve Coeur, Illinois and he survives in Carlyle.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter Kellie Haar of Carlyle; daughter-in-law Molly Dorries; grandchildren: Karaleigh Dorries and fiancé Jerry Dennis, Marc Gonzalez, Logan Dorries and wife Hannah, Connor Haar and Fiancé Allison Lewis, Madison Dorries, and Mackenzie Dorries; great grandchildren: Amelia and Lewis Dorries; brother Norvil Herrin and wife Carol.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her son Gary Dorries; her son-in-law Tom Haar; and a brother Norman Herrin and wife Bertha.

Janet was born and raised in Creve Coeur, Illinois and in 1963 she moved to Carlyle where she and Clyde raised their family and they owned and operated Home Fashions for more than 30 years. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, wintering in Texas, and they were often seen riding down the road in their side by side.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Life Church Carlyle with Rev. Jason McIntosh officiating. Interment will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of services on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Life Church Carlyle.

Memorials made in memory of Janet are suggested to Life Church Carlyle, Residential Hospice or to the charity of donor’s choice and will be received at church or at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
