Raymond A. Jansen, 91, of Albers, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. He was born December 19, 1916 in Albers, son of William and Margaret (Kloeckner) Jansen. He married Adele Korte on May 21, 1946 in Albers and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, David (Dolores) Jansen of Tulsa, OK, William "Bill" (Carol) Jansen of Mason, OH, Charles "Chuck" (Diane) Jansen of Overland Park, KS, and Glen Jansen of St. Louis, MO; three daughters, Marilyn (Mike) Buscher of Aviston, Patricia (Linus) Wessel of Trenton, and Geraldine "Geri" (Fred) Schmidt of St. Louis, MO ; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; three sisters, Sister Eulogia Jansen of Ruma, Clara (Robert) Schachner of O’Fallon, and Marie (Larry) Straeter of St. Rose; three brothers, Norbert Jansen of Albers, Vincent (Marie) Jansen of Aviston, and Edmond (Norma) Jansen of Albers; brothers in-law and sisters in-law, Henrietta Jansen of Bartelso, Loretta and Edwin Trame of Breese, Lou Korte of St. Rose, Wilbert Timmernann of Albers, Valeria Korte of Albers, and Arlene Korte of Damiansville. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gerald Jansen; one daughter, Barbara Jansen; two sisters, Martha Varel and Estelle Heimann ; three brothers, Leo Jansen, Louis Jansen in infancy, and Albert J. Jansen; five brothers-in-law, Aloys Varel, Alois Heimann, Louis Korte, Alfred Korte, and Wilbert Korte; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Jansen and Dorothy Timmermann. Mr. Jansen was an aircraft mechanic and equipment specialist at Aviation Systems Command in St. Louis, MO and retired after 34 years of civil service. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps and served during WWII. He was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Men's Sodality in Albers; Peters-Kiefer Knights of Columbus Council 9768 in Damiansville and Albers; American Legion Post 1026 in Albers; Mater Dei Fathers and Friends; Catholic War Veterans Post 1780 in Bartelso; the National Association of Retired Federal Employees; and the Clinton County Farm Bureau. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers with full military honors. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers. The Knights of Columbus will visit the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday after which they will pray the rosary at St. Bernard Church in Albers. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mater Dei High School and St. Bernard Parish and will be received at the funeral home.
