Vivian G. Jansen, 79, of Damiansville, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. She was born November 20, 1927 in New Baden, daughter of Henry and Justine (Bruns) Kreke, Sr. She married Herman W. Jansen, Sr. August 20, 1947 in New Baden and he preceded in death on January 14, 2007. She is survived by one son, Herman "Bud" Jansen, Jr. and wife Ruth of Damiansville; two daughters, Marilyn Jansen and husband Virgil of Swansea and Shirley Huegen and husband Terry of Albers; ten grandchildren, Mike (Jen) Jansen, Matt (Diana) Jansen, Curt (Karen) Jansen, Angie (Phil) Jansen, Dean (Amy) Jansen, Keith (Callie) Jansen, David (Dana) Jansen, Cheryl (Rich) Young, Brian Huegen and Jennifer Huegen; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Adele Schaefer of Belleville; two brothers, Vernon Kreke of New Baden and Henry "Boots" Kreke, Jr. and wife Judy of New Baden; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Ann Kreke of New Baden, Archie Santel of Damiansville, Viola Jansen of New Baden. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Michelle Jansen; one brother, Paul Kreke; one sister, Agnes Lugge; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Mary Jansen, Sr.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard Schaefer, Wilbert Lugge, Ben Jansen, Bill Jansen, Clem Jansen, Henry "Heine" Jansen, Marie Santel, Cecilia Jansen, Corine Jansen and Rose Marie Jansen. Mrs. Jansen was a seamstress at garment factories in Belleville and Highland. She was a member of St. Damian Parish and Altar Sodality. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Damian Cemetery in Damiansville. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2007 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Damian Church and will be received at the funeral home.
