William "Bill" Jansen, 87, of Damiansville, Ill. died on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese, Ill. He was born on October 20, 1918, in Damiansville, son of William, Sr. and Mary (Moss) Jansen. He married Cecilia Kruse on October 22, 1952 at St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso and she preceded him in death on June 7, 1974. Mr. Jansen is survived by his children, Flo Jansen of Damiansville, Bill Jansen and wife Lori of Damiansville, Marcella Wildhaber and husband Norb of Germantown, Lavern Jansen and wife Irene of Damiansville and Barbara Richter and husband Allen of Aviston; seven grandchildren, Bill Jansen, Karen Jansen, Matt Jansen, Jason Richter, David Richter, Jennifer Richter and Christopher Richter; one brother, Herman Jansen and wife Vivian of Damiansville, and a sister, Ann Kreke of New Baden; brother-in-law, Archie Santel of Damiansville, and sisters-in-law, Viola Jansen of New Baden, Mary "Mame" Grawe of Breese and Anna Kruse of Breese; he is also survived by nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Jansen, brothers Clem Jansen and Henry "Heinie" Jansen and a sister, Marie Santel; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Corinne Jansen, Rosemarie Jansen, Paul Kreke, Al & Cecilia Kruse, Ed Grawe, Frank & "Curly" Kruse, Joe Kruse, Alphonse Kruse and Elsie Kruse. Mr. Jansen was a lifetime dairy farmer. He was a member of St. Damian Parish and Holy Name Society; Mid-America Dairymen Association and Clinton County Farm Bureau. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 24, 2005 at St. Damian Church, Damiansville with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Damian Cemetery in Damiansville. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2005 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 24, 2005 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. Memorials may be made to St. Damian Parish, Heartland Hospice or donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
