Joanne G. Wangler, 84, of Swansea, died Friday, January 18, 2019 at Cedarhurst Living Center in Shiloh. She was born in Belleville on March 4, 1934, the daughter of George and Virginia (Wade) Erlinger. She married Paul E. Wangler and he preceded her in death July 1, 2013.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Wellen and husband Ron of Trenton, Catherine Fox and husband Jim of Damiansville, and Karen Kesler and husband Greg of Destin, Florida; three grandchildren: Caitlin Fox, Matthew Fox, and Annie Kesler; a great-granddaughter, Delaney Jo Fox; and
a brother-in-law, B.C. Weir.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death
by her sister, Joyce Weir.
Mrs. Wangler was a member of St. Henry Catholic Parish in Belleville. She worked in the Air Weather Service at Scott Air Force Base for over 30 years. Joanne was an avid bowler, she was a founding member of the Clin-Clair Bowling Association that later became the Illinois Women’s Bowling Association.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. York officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 and from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.
Memorials may be made to New Baden Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Heartland Hospice, or Shriners Children’s Hospital and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home.
