John J. Blavesciunas, 63, of New Baden, died Monday, January 15, 2018 at Memorial East Hospital in Shiloh. He was born December 31, 1954 in E. St. Louis, the son of Vytautas and Petronele, nee Laurinaityte, Blavesciunas. He married Mary Broeckling November 18, 1981 in Carlyle and she survives in New Baden.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Justin (Angie) Blavesciunas; three grandchildren, Dustin, Kayden, and Hayley; his siblings, Stella (Bernard Szynalski) Hasting, Jeannie (Bob Hardy) Baudino, Mary George, Joseph (Terry) Blavesciunas, and Ruth Ann Blavesciunas; his mother-in-law, Rita Broeckling; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lori Blavesciunas, Linda (Robert) Bower, Dennis (Linda) Broeckling, Donna (Randy) Feldt, Janet (Jim Osborne) Flowers, Dean Broeckling, Peggy (Curt) Wright, and Lonny Broeckling; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Walter Broeckling; and three brothers, Vito, Paul, and Tony Blavesciunas.
Mr. Blavesciunas was a manager for Jack in the Box in Belleville and a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam Era. John liked to work on antique watches and remodel old houses. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Funeral Services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden with Rev. Gene Neff officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, January 19, 2018 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.
Memorials may be made to the family and will be received at the funeral home.
