John B. Grapperhaus, age 84, of Carlyle died September 21, 2013 at Carlyle Healthcare Center. He was born October 3, 1928 in Trenton, Illinois the son of Henry and Mary (Alberternst) Grapperhaus.
Mr. Grapperhaus is survived by his daughter, Valerie A. Grapperhaus of Breese; a granddaughter: Amanda A. Grapperhaus of Breese; four brothers: Raymond Grapperhaus and wife Cynthia of Beckemeyer, Larry Grapperhaus and wife Margie of Pekin, IL, Ralph Grapperhaus and wife Reva of Carlyle, Hank Grapperhaus and wife Jeanie of Germantown. Two sisters: Johanna Laux of Carlyle, Marcella Benhoff of Breese. And sister-in-law Marcella Grapperhaus of Breese.
Mr. Grapperhaus was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Eugene Grapperhaus, Arnold Grapperhaus, and Bernard Grapperhaus; one sister: Adella Kreke; three brothers-in-law: Herb Laux, Ray Kreke, and Benny Benhoff; three sisters-in-law: Helen Grapperhaus, Jeanette Grapperhaus, and Lorene Grapperhaus.
John served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was employed by ABF trucking before retiring.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday September 28, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle. Fr. George Mauck will be officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday September 28, 2013 from 8am until 10am at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle.
Memorials may be made to the charity of donor’s choice and will be received at Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle which is serving the Grapperhaus family.
