Joseph B. Peters

June 17, 1944 — August 24, 2024

Carlyle

Joseph B. Peters, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 24, 2024, in Carlyle at the age of 80 years. He was born on June 17, 1944, in Murphysboro, Illinois, the son of Margaret Marlow. Joe's birth father, 1st Lt. Joseph William Beach was killed when his plane malfunctioned and went down during World War II, two months before Joe's birth. He was raised by his mother and adoptive father Dale Peters. Joe lived a life full of passion, pride, and dedication.

Joe devoted his career to Beelman Trucking, where he worked throughout his adult life. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his honor in serving in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam era. Joseph was incredibly proud of his military service and remained actively involved as a member of the Beckemeyer Legion, cherishing the camaraderie and respect that comes with such an esteemed affiliation.

A man of many passions, Joseph was known for his love of the great outdoors, particularly deer hunting, which filled him with joy and adventure. He was a true motorhead at heart, reveling in the thrill of his Harley Davidson motorcycles. Many weekends were spent at the Lake of the Ozarks, where he enjoyed boating and racing, creating countless cherished memories with friends and family.

Above all, Joe valued his family. He loved spending time with his wife of 45 years, Susanne Peters, and their children Kyle and Tammy Peters and Jared and Jamie Peters. The joy he derived from being a grandfather to Ryker, Trey, Kylie, and Brantley was unmatched, as he took great pride in the next generation of his family. Additionally, his bond with his sisters, Annette Veech and Marlow and J.P. Hoyer, highlighted the importance of family throughout his life. Also surviving is his cousin and close friend Kay DuHasek.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an Uncle Robert E. Beach, and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lloyd and Mildred Daniels.
