Joyce Kleber, age 96, of Carlyle, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Carlyle Healthcare Center. She was born February 28, 1927 in Frogtown.
Joyce is survived by four children: Mary Wieter of Breese, Nancy Plesia of O'Fallon, Missouri, Deborah Rose of Kettering, Ohio, and Jeffrey Kleber of Stonewood, Washington; six grandchildren: Terry, Tom, Shane, Tanya, Shelly, and Shauna; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Cora Hammel; her husbands, Edwin Revermann; and Harold "Hap" Kleber; two brothers Bill Spindler and Charlie Spindler.
Joyce was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle. She loved planting and caring for flowers as well as doing yard work. She could be found working in her yard regardless of the weather. Joyce also enjoyed cleaning her house, she would be cleaning, even if it didn't need to be cleaned. She worked for 21 years at Murray Center in Centralia but was better known for her later job, where she made many burgers and meals at the Legion in Carlyle. She always enjoyed socializing with the patrons and trying new recipes they would bring to her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle. Interment will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle.
Memorials made in memory of Joyce are suggested to the Carlyle Healthcare Center Alzheimer's Unit, Messiah Lutheran Church, or Hospice of Southern Illinois. They will be received at church or Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
