Virginia RM Kalmer, 70, of Damiansville, IL died on Saturday, October 15, 2005, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born on December 28, 1934 in Fayetteville, Ill., daughter of William and Rose (Hilmes) Deiters. She married Lawrence B. Kalmer on April 20, 1955 in Beckemeyer, Ill. And he survives in Damiansville. She is also survived by her children, Stan Kalmer of Damiansville, and his special friend, Teresa Griffith, Marilyn Becker and husband Mike of Bartelso, Joe Kalmer and wife Renee of Damiansville, Linda Buss and husband Rich of Aviston, and Bernice Vonder Haar and husband Doug of Breese; 12 grandchildren, Scott Becker, Sarah Becker, Brent Kalmer, Alison Kalmer, Alicia Buss, David Buss, Lynn Buss, Daniel Buss, Amanda Buss, Justin Vonder Haar, Jason Vonder Haar and Jordan Vonder Haar; two brothers, Bill Deiters and wife Nancy of Jensen Beach, FL, Joe Deiters and wife Rita of Beckemeyer, and one sister, Rosie Hemann of Germantown; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Verena & Emil Rensing of New Baden, Marcella & Leo Varel of Carlyle, Margaret & Ralph Thole of St. Rose, Jerome Koerkenmeier of Damiansville, and Hugo Wilke of St. Rose. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law & mother-in-law, Joseph & Catherine Kalmer; and brother-in-law Robert B. Hemann; and sisters-in-law, Rita Koerkenmeier and Ruth Wilke. She was a member of St. Damian Parish and Altar Sodality. She was a homemakerand loved her grandchildren. Her hobbies were gardening and quilting. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at St. Damian Church, Damiansville, IL with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Damian Cemetery in Damiansville, IL. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2005 and from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Relay For Life, St. Damian Church, Mater Dei High School or to All Saints Academy and will be received at the funeral home.
